Humanistic Psychotherapy
In Humanistic Psychotherapy, great attention is given to solving current problems with specific strategies. Also, we believe strongly in a cognitive approach to problem solving. This supports the idea that our problems are often rooted in the way we think. When we change our thinking, we will always change the way we feel, i.e., reduce of eliminate depression, anxiety, stress, marital problems, etc. This will in turn lead to more productive, satisfying, and meaningful behavior leading to problem resolution. In the tradition of a humanistic approach to problem solving, while the past has some relevance to who we are, less attention is given to this and emphasis is placed on "where we are now" and "where do we want to go." We believe that virtually all problems can be solved in a reasonable time frame. We value short term therapy for lasting results and encourage individuals to come in touch with their authentic self which can be valued and cherished. For over twenty five years, it has been so rewarding and satisfying for me as a therapist to see how applying the values and strategies listed above has resulted in the most wonderful changes in an individual’s ability to solve the problems that face them as part of the human condition. I invite you to "Begin your journey of self discovery." |
